PetBox, who kindly sent me this (Premium) box to review, is a monthly subscription box for pets (dogs or cats) that allows you to select what items you wish to receive in your box!  They are (I believe) the only box out there that allows you to do this. You can opt to select your own items for the month or you can opt for a “Surprise Me” box where PetBox will hand-select items for you. You can opt for a dog box, a cat box, or a combination dog / cat box. I receive the “Surprise Me” Dog Box to review on a monthly basis.

PetBox shipped via FedEx Smart Post (starts out as FedEx and is delivered by USPS) this month and took just under a week to arrive.

First Look

This month’s PetBox was so heavy!  With the “Surprise Me” option, PetBox selects your items for you (otherwise I would have known why it was so heavy).  If you opt to select your own items you are allotted 800 points and are able to “shop” with your points (items are assigned point values in the store). I am guessing that will get you anywhere from 4 – 6 items with those 800 points.

The PetBox Card

Since you can customize your box and because “Surprise Me” boxes are customized to your preferences, they don’t include an information card.  My box isn’t totally customized to me, it’s more of an example of items you could select for your box.  Here is what was included:

~It’s Purely Natural Chicken Jerky ($7.99): Jerky treats might be one of the few “hard” treats that the boys love.  These are totally something I would pick out on my own for them and was super happy to see them in here.

~Bark+ Waste Pick-Up Refill Bags ($5.99):  Not sure how much can really be said about dog waste bags, but I am happy these are a dark color.  LOL.  So gross.

~Evanger’s Chicken ($1.37): Baxter and Buddy LOVE when I give them canned dog food.  It happens so rarely that they just freak out when they get it and gobble it up in two seconds.  I seriously don’t even know if they have a chance to smell it and then boom, it’s gone.

~PetSafe Lawn Protector ($14.99):  We don’t have problems with our lawn getting damaged by the dogs, but I have seen houses with burn patches and I bet it drives them nuts.

~Wellspring Pets Bionic Bones Nutrient Water ($4.95): So basically this is a nutrient drink for dogs.  But they think it’s a treat because it tastes so good.  It took me a minute to get, but I figured it out.

~Petz QD ID Tag ($12.99): Well this is quite the idea!  If someone finds your dog, it will display not only it’s name and your phone number, but also vet information, pictures, notes, etc.  And it sounds like once it’s scanned the owner will be notified that the dog has been located.  I’ll be hooking this up tonight.

All totaled I came up with a value of $48.28 for the September 2014 PetBox!  That’s in excess of the $39.95 price tag and I love the new products it has introduced me too.   Baxter and Buddy are happy as well.
